Carey Danis & Lowe Reports On $73 Million Boston Scientific Verdict

The jury found Boston Scientific liable for the plaintiff’s allegations of selling a defectively designed medical product and failure to provide sufficient warning to health care professionals and patients about the risks associated with their medical product. Furthermore, the jury ruled that responsibility lay with Boston Scientific in regard to the injuries sustained by the plaintiff in the case, Martha Salazar.

As detailed in the Bloomberg article, Salazar underwent four surgical operations to remove her Obtryx bladder sling that she claimed was causing her severe pain.
Salazar is to receive a $23 million compensatory package and $50 million in punitive damages.

The Texas case is Salazar v. Lopez, No. DC-1214349 in the Dallas County District Court.
